SULLIVAN -- Drew Gibson and Jeff Niebrugge broke loose in the third quarter for St. Anthony and pulled the Bulldogs from a two-point lead to an 18-point lead going into the final quarter and finished with a 52-39 non-conference boys basketball win over Sullivan Tuesday evening.

Gibson scored seven in the opening quarter as the Bulldogs tied Sullivan at 11-11. Cade Walsh then came through with six points in the second period to give the Bulldogs a 19-16 halftime lead.

Gibson then scored nine and Niebrugge eight in the third period surge. Gibson finished with 18 points to lead St. Anthony while Neibrugge chipped in with 14.

At Toledo

Altamont broke a 14-14 opening quarter tie to edge out to a 32-30 halftime lead on Cumberland in non-conference action Tuesday.

The Pirates came back with a 15-13 third period edge to again knot the score, this time at 45-45. But the Indians put together a 22-16 final period run to pull out the victory. Ryian Armstrong hit a basket and four free throws while Adam Mayhaus had six points. The Indians hit 10 free throws in that quarter.

Mayhaus finished with 17 points while Armstrong added 12 and Sam Childerson 10.

WSS held a 9-7 opening quarter lead then had a 14-3 second period run and outscored ALAH 10-5 in the third period.

Warner scored 16 while Overbeck had 10 for the winners to improve to 2-0 on the season.

South Central trailed early but came back to take a 62-57 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown in National Trail Conference action Tuesday.

SEB held a 14-7 opening quarter lead and still led 25-24 at halftime. The Cougars then had a 38-32 second half run to pull out the victory. Harmeier tallied 24 and Hill 20 for the winners who improve to 1-0 in the conference, 2-0 overall.

SEB was led by Feezel with 21 and Hardimon with 15.

Neoga held a 16-14 opening quarter lead on BCCH and held that two-point lead at halftime 24-22. BCCH then came back with a 29-15 second half run.

Blackerly scored 20 for the winners while Rexroad chipped in with 14. Neoga was led by Easton with 13 and Hill with 11.

Dieterich handily trounced Cisne 63-38 in a non-conference contest Tuesday.

The Maroons stepped out to a 23-9 opening quarter lead and the game was never in doubt. Feldhake scored 18 while Poe added 10 and L. Niemerg 10.

Dieterich nailed 10 three-pointers in the game led by Feldhake with four. Poe and L. Niemerg had two each.
