Dieterich Wins Over CHBC, T-town Falls To Paris in Girls Play

DIETERICH -- It was the battle of the coaching sisters again as Dieterich downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Saturday in girls high school basketball competition, 60-30.

The Movin' Maroons took a 34-18 halftime lead and never looked back as Coach Donetta Ohnesorge's team improved to 20-8 on the season. Her sister, Carolyn Wendte, coaches CHBC.

Dieterich was led by Courtney Flach with 22 points, Mallorie Vahling with 14 and Elizabeth Abbott with 11. Vahling pulled down 12 rebounds while Kallee Heuerman had nine. Kelsey Webb led in assists with seven. Flach had six steals.

CHBC was led by Chandler Ward with eight points.

At Teutopolis

Paris came calling and edged the homestanding Wooden Shoes 35-33 in Saturday competition.

Paris leaped out to an 18-2 opening quarter lead and held the Wooden Shoes to only three points while taking a 23-3 halftime lead. T-town then made a big comeback effort, outscoring the Tigers 10-6 in the third quarter and 20-6 in the final period only to fall short.

T-town was led by Thompson with 10 points and Drees with eight. Drees, Hartke and Thompson pullled down five rebounds each.
