Effingham traveled to Mount Zion and fell in seventh-grade boys basketball action, 39-25 while the eighth-grade squad picked up a 55-21 victory Tuesday evening.
Effingham's shooting was as cold as the weather in the seventh-grade game. The Mustangs shot only 3-of-26 from the field through three quarters, falling behind 29-11.
Effingham was led in scoring by Tate Niebrugge with eight and Parker Snow with seven. Sam Thompson had six rebounds to lead Effingham on the boards. The Mustangs are now 1-1 on the season.
In eighth-grade action, Wolfe tallied 26 points to guide the Mustangs to the big win. Effingham took a 21-5 opening quarter lead and continued pounding the ball into the basket for a 41-6 halftime lead.
Wolfe also had seven rebounds and four steals. Jackson had four steals and Lee seven rebounds. Rich chipped in with five boards. EJHS is now 2-0 on the season.
The Mustangs will travel to Teutopolis Thursday.
