Two Area Junior High Teams in State Baseball Action

Altamont Lutheran and North Clay (Louisville) are competing in SIJHSAA State Baseball Tournament play. Both were in action Monday.

Class S Tournament

Altamont Lutheran defeated St. Ann's/TLS 3-1 in the first round at Coulterville. In other games, Valmeyer blanked Giant City 10-0, Bluford edged New Hope 7-6 and Steeleville won over Century 9-8.

In semifinal round action Wednesday, Valmeyer takes on Bluford at 1 p.m. while Altamont Lutheran meets Steeleville at 3 p.m.

 

Class M Tournament

North Clay (Louisville) tallied single runs in the third and fifth innings to blank Gallatin County 2-0.

Jordan Bloemer pitched a no-hitter with eight walks and 12 strikeouts. Meanwhile North Clay had four hits in the game led by Bloemer with two singles. Reese Blank added a single and an RBI.

In other games, Goreville downed Pinckneyville 10-1, Red Bud edged Cobden 3-2 and Nashville won over Smithton 6-3.

In semifinal round play today, Goreville meets Red Bud at p.m. while North Clay takes on Nashville at 3 p.m.
