Effingham St. Anthony handed Putnam County an 8-2 loss in baseball competition Saturday. Putnam County, coached by former Bulldog coach Joey Ohnesorge, took a 1-0 first inning lead when the leadoff batter singled and the Bulldogs committed an error.
Putnam County then pushed that to 2-0 in the third inning on back-to-back singles. But St. Anthony came roaring back with a four-run fourth.
Eli Dasenbrock led off the inning with a single while Austin Bushur followed with a single. Brandon Puckett hit a sacrifice fly, scorig a run. With two outs, Alex Hoelscher drew a walk. Scott Rentfrow singled home two runs and came home on a single by Bryar Jansen.
St. Anthony tallied four more in the fifth on a triple by Neil Williams, single by Dasenbrock and two walks and an error.
Rentfrow pitched a six-hitter with no walks and five strikeouts.

At Neoga
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg handed Neoga a 13-7 loss to improve to 12-5 on the season. Neoga drops to 7-0.
Hutchinson picked up the pitching win to improve to 4-0. He went three innings allowing five runs, six hits, three walks and one strikeout.
Cole had four hits for the winners and drove in two runs while Deremiah, Jones and Hutchinson had two hits each. Deremiah and Jones had an RBI each. Neoga was led by Rankin with three hits and Romack and Walk with two hits each. Romack had three RBI while Walk had two.
