South Central edged Effingham St. Anthony 5-4 in high school National Trail Conference baseball action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs held a 1-0 first inning lead before South Central tied the score in the third. The Cougars then held a 3-2 lead in the fifth and tallied two more runs in the sixth for a 5-2 lead. St. Anthony mounted a comeback with two runs in the bottom of the seventh only to fall short.

South Central was led by Ross with a single, triple and two RBI and Powless and Ratermann with two singles each. Powless had two RBI.

St. Anthony was led by Wiliams with three singles and Hoelscher and Bushur with a double each. Bushur drove in a run.

South Cenral improves to 5-1 in the conference, 7-3 overall.

At Teutopolis

The Wooden Shoes blanked Neoga 7-0. T-town took a 1-0 first inning lead and had nine hits in the contest.

Bobby Wenthe continued his hot streak with another home run, a double and finished with two RBI. J. Thoele had a double while L. Niemerg had two singles and two RBI. A. Borries picked up the pitching win on a a five-hitter with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Neoga had five hits led by J. Baker with a single and double and L. Rankins with two singles.

At Teutopolis

At Dieterich

Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor came calling at Dieterich and downed the Movin' Maroons 8-4 in National Trail Conference play.

SSW had 10 hits in the contest and was aided by three Dieterich errors. A. Allen led the Comets attack with two singles, a triple and an RBI while H. Cole added a single and double.

Dieterich was led by A. Bohnhoff with a single and double and T. Traub with three singles and three RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo moved into the championship game of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament by downing Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 26-1.

Levi Maxey moved his pitching record to 3-2 by throwing a one-hitter in three innings with no walks and seven strikeouts. BSE had 13 hits in the game led by Maxey with three singles and two RBI, Noah Flowers wih two singles and an RBI, Dalton Parks with a double and two RBI and Elijah Austin with two singles and an RBI.

BCCH was led by Jacob Kenter with two singles.

Brownstown/St. Elmo improves to 7-7 and will face Patoka in the championship Thursday at 7 p.m. BCCH will face Ramsey for third place at 4:15 p.m. Patoka beat Ramsey 13-2.
