Bulldogs Edge North Clay, Area Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School's Zach Gardewine pitched a one-hitter as the Bulldogs edged North Clay (Louisville) 2-0 in baseball competition Monday evening.

The Bulldogs jumped on the board in the first inning with two runs and that was all the runs scored in the contest. Braden Puckett singled with two outs scoring two runs and then it was a pitcher's dual the rest of the way as Cox fell with a two-hitter.

St. Anthony is back in action hosting Neoga Thursday in a non-conference contest.

 

At Teutopolis

T-town opened with a 10-0 victory in five innings against Webber Township (Bluford) in five innings via the 10-run rule.

Five pitchers combined to throw a three-hitter for the Shoes with each pitcher going one inning. T-town had 11 hits in the contest led by Bobby Wenthe with a single, triple and an RBI, Reed Hardiek with a single, double and an RBI, Cody Will with two doubles and two RBI and Tommy Flach with two singles and an RBI.

The game was the season-opener. The Shoes will be back in action Saturday against Neoga in the Wooden Bat Tournament at T-town.

At Noble

Dieterich edged Noble 4-3 in its season opener Monday. Noble held a 2-1 lead after the first two innings. Dieterich tied in the top of the third before Noble regained the lead in the bottom of the frame. Dieterich then had a two-run sixth to pull out the victory.

Dieterich had seven hits in the contest. Doubles came from Bohnhoff and Shoemaker.  Ausbrook led Noble with a double.

J. Bohnhoff pitched an eight-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts.

At Altamont

Altamont bounced South Central to the tune of 13-1 in five innings via the 10-run rule Monday.

The Indians took a 4-0 first inning lead then taliled five more in the second and never looked back. Altamont had 15 hits in the game led by Cornett with two singles and a double.

Ziegler pitched a four-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.
