>>Braves Beat Cards To Avoid Four-Game Sweep

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Andrelton Simmons homered to back seven solid innings from Mike Minor, as the Braves beat the Cardinals 5-2 to avoid a four-game sweep at Busch Stadium.  Minor gave up just one run on six hits as he improved to 13-and-5.  Craig Kimbrel closed it out for his 41st save.  Jordan Shafer and Elliot Johnson both had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for Atlanta, which had lost five-of-seven coming in but still hold a comfortable 13-game lead in the NL East.  Matt Holliday and Allen Craig plated a run each for the Redbirds, who had won their previous four.  Lance Lynn allowed four runs and nine hits in seven frames as he fell to 13-and-8 with his third straight loss.

>>Padres Outlast Cubs In 15 Innings

(San Diego, CA)  --  The Padres rallied in the 13th and again in the 15th inning to pull out a 3-2 win over the Cubs at Petco Park.  Nick Hundley singled in the winning run for the walk-off victory as San Diego won its third in four games.  After Chicago took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 13th, Ronny Cedeno tripled in a run and tied the game by scoring on a wild pitch for the Pads.  Dale Thayer logged the win in relief.  Darnell McDonald scored on an error and Brian Bogusevic knocked in a run for Chicago in the 13th before Kevin Gregg blew the save.  Hector Rondon was saddled with the loss for Chicago, which has lost five out of six.

>>White Sox Foil Rangers

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Danks brothers led the White Sox to a 5-2 win over the Rangers at U.S. Cellular Field.  Starting pitcher John Danks allowed two runs over six innings and got his fourth win of the season and second-in-a-row.  Jordan Danks hit a home run after coming into the game as an injury replacement in right field.  Josh Phegley also homered for the Sox.  Addison Reed notched his 35th save of the season.  The Sox have won eight of their last nine games.  Matt Garza took the loss though he went seven innings.  He's 3-2.  Jeff Baker homered to account for the Rangers' two runs.  Texas has lost two straight.
