St. A Wins Twice, Altamont, Altamont Lutheran Claim Junior High Baseball Tourneys

Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg/Windsor in junior high baseball action Saturday.

In the A game, St. Anthony was a 10-5 winner behind 12 hits. Utz and J. Guy had a single, double and an RBI for the winners while Seachrist had three singles and two RBI and Heuerman two singles and an RBI.

Kramer led Stew-Stras/Windsor with two singles, a double and an RBI.

In the B game, the Bullpups won 22-1 in four innings. St. Anthony had 17 hits led by Strullmeyer with a single and two doubles, Wall with a single, double and three RBI and Mendella, Wortman and B. Niebrugge with two singles each. Wortman and B. Niebrugge drove in a run each.

Altamont Junior High Opening Day Tournament

Altamont won its own baseball opening day tournament Saturday. The scores were:

Brownstown/St. Elmo 10, Altamont 8; Neoga 7, Oblong 1; Altamont 21, Neoga 3; Brownstown/St. Elmo 5, Oblong 3; Altamont 12, Oblong 4 and Neoga 7, Brownstown/St. Elmo 4.

Altamont claimed first place followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo, Neoga and Oblong.

 

Beecher City Tournament

Altamont Lutheran claimed the championship of the Beecher City Tournament followed by Beecher City, Effingham Sacred Heart and Mulberry Grove.

Beecher City defeated Sacred Heart 7-4 with the winning pitcher Nick Miller. Altamont Lutheran trounced Beecher City 16-1. Austin Kline was the winning pitcher.
