Midland States Bank, Mid-Illinois Concrete Advance in Junior Tourney

Midland States Bank and Mid-Illinois Concrete advanced after opening round play in the Junior Babe Ruth League Tournament Wednesday evening at Paul Smith Field.
Midland States Bank blanked K. Wohltman Construction 12-0 in four innings. Midland held a 1-0 first inning lead then had a five-run second and a six-run fourth.
Bryan Jansen picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter. Meanwhile teammates banged out seven hits in the contest. Jansen had the lone extra base hit for his team with a double. Damon Potter had a single and drove in two runs.
Jacob Dust led K. Wohltman Construction with a double.
Midland States Bank will take on top-seeded Washington Savings Bank at 6 p.m. Monday.
In the second contest, Mid-Illinois Concrete broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run third and tallied three more in the fifth for a 6-1 win over Trophies Unlimited.
Caden Miller picked up the four-hit pitching win while Tyler Westendorf suffered a four-hit loss.
Ryan Huelsbusch, Eric Schoonover, Kyle Smith and Jacob Donaldson had a double each for the winners. Schoonover drove in two runs while Smith and Donaldson had one each.
Jacob Roepke had two singles for Trophies Unlimited.
Mid-Illinois will now meet either Tri-Power Towing or Sehy & Jones Monday at 8 p.m. Tri-Power and Sehy & Jones square off tonight in the final game of opening round play.
