The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. The Hatchets moved into a 5-0 lead in the second. Newton came back with two runs in the third but WSS scored two in the fourth to lead 7-3. Newton then pulled within 7-6 in the fifth but that was all the runs the Eagles were to score.
Both teams had six hits and both had one error.
Branson Tingley finished with two singles, a double and four RBI to lead the Hatchets. Blake Verdeyen added a double while Kendall Morris had a single and two RBI.
Connor Manhart went four innings on the mound for the win. He allowed three runs on two hits, no walks while striking out three.
Newton was led by Isaac Flowers with a triple, home run and four RBI. Max Meinhart added a single and double while David Ferguson and Kohlten Barthelme added a double each. Drake Wolf had an RBI.
At Strasburg

At Neoga
Neoga took a 1-0 lead in the second and never looked back in a 10-1 victory over Mulberry Grove Thursday.
The Indians finished with eight hits and were aided by five Mulberry Grove errors and five walks.
Neoga tallied three in the third, one in the fourth and sixth innings and four in the fifth.
The Indians were led in hitting by Matt Propst with two doubles and an RBI, Keaton Lacey a double and James Ballinger, Colin Blazich and Landon Titus with a single and an RBI each. Brock Lanham added a double.
Lanham was the winning pitcher. He went 4.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit, three walks and striking out seven.
At Neoga

North Clay (Louisville) handed Robinson an 8-2 loss Thursday.
The Cardinals improved to 16-12-1 on the season and return to action today at Breese Central in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
At Salem
Salem struck early with two runs in the first and tallied a 4-2 victory over Altamont in Thursday competition.
The Indians had four hits but finished with four errors and gave up six walks.
Ethan Robbins led the way with two singles for Altamont. Kaidyn Miller and Zaine Miller had a single and an RBI each.
The Wildcats had six hits led by Josh Powless with a single, double and an RBI, Jalen Inlow with a double and an RBI and Keaton Guillion with two singles.
Gavin Zimmerman threw a four-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts. He went five innings. Noah Nix came on to toss the final two innings, allowing one walk and striking out five.
