Shelby County, Charleston Split Doubleheader

CHARLESTON -- Shelby County Posts 289-611-725 split a doubleheader with Charleston Post 93 in baseball action Tuesday evening at Baker Field.

Charleston won the first game 8-3. Charleston took a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied four in the fourth and three in the fifth. Shelby County scored its three runs in the sixth. Robbie Miller led the winners with a single, double and two RBI, Orion Roberts with two singles and two RBI and Nick Corrie with two singles.

Shelby County was led by Gunner Theis with a double, home run and an RBI while Andrew Hawkins had two doubles and an RBI.

In the second contest, Shelby County claimed a 12-5 win behind 10 hits. Michael Baker had a single and two doubles while Neil Yockey had three singles and drove in a run.

Leading Charleston was Sawyer Newell with a single, two-run homer and three RBI.

Shelby County is now 3-3 on the season.
