Windsor/Stew-Stras, South Central Advance In Sectional Play

GREENUP -- Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg reached the Sweet 16 with a 6-0 victory over Edwards County (Albion) in the Class 1A Cumberland Baseball Sectional Wednesday.

The Blue Devils' Aaron White pitched a four-hitter with no walks and a strikeout to improve to 7-1 on the season. Meanwhile, teammates were banging out 11 hits, scoring two runs in the second, sixth and seventh innings.

Justin Fulk had two singles and a double for the winners while White aided his own cause with two singles and two RBI.

Edwards County ended the season with a 15-8 record. The Blue Devils advance to the championship game with a 24-5 record.

In the second game of the sectional, South Central downed North Clay (Louisville) 11-3 to advance to the championship.

The Cougars had 16 hits in the contest and stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead and never looked back. Dan Diss picked up the pitching win to improve to 4-5 going six innings, allowing eight hits, three walks and striking out nine.

Kyle Bray had two singles, a home run and two RBI for the winners while Diss had two singles, a double and an RBI. Austin Schwarm had a single and a three-run homer in the fifth to finish with three RBI. Fischer Tharp had a single, double and drove in two runs.

North Clay was led by Micklautz with a single and double.

South Central will now square off against Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Saturday at 11 a.m. for the sectional championship.
