OLNEY -- Effingham High School scored two runs in the top of the 12th inning to pull out a 4-2 win over Olney in the Class 3A Olney Baseball Regional Monday.

"Devin Mayfield turned in a great pitching performance," said EHS Coach Chris Fleener. "After giving up two runs in the first inning, he shut out Olney over the next 11 innings to pick up the complete game victory.

"Olney had fine pitching performances as well from their starter Alex Craig and Tyler Zuber in relief."

The Hearts banged out 13 hits in the contest. Hayes and Frey had a single and a double each. Frey had two RBI. Carie, Koester, Drew Levitt and Dirk Levitt had two singles each. Koester added an RBI.
