Hearts Sweep Doubleheader; Other Friday Baseball

The Effingham Hearts moved to .500 on the season Friday with a baseball doubleheader sweep at Flora, 7-0 and 14-3.
Preston Walker tossed a three-hit shutout in the opener, walking two and striking out six.
The Levitt twins had a good game, with Dirk and Drew accounting for a home run and two triples as they went a combined five-for-seven in the game with three runs scored and five RBI. Carter Hayes had two base hits, Braydon Bone singled and scored, Trenton Frey singled and walked twice and scored two runs, Nathan Vail singled and drove in a run, Khye Heuerman singled, and Austin Webb singled and drove in a run.
In the nightcap, Kevin Daugherty got the win, allowing three runs on five hits and walking no one in five innings while fanning six. Devin Mayfield pitched a perfect inning, striking out the side to close out the six-inning contest.
At the plate for Effingham, leadoff hitter Brayden Bone had three base hits, scored twice and drove in two runs, Kennan Mahaffey singled and walked, scored twice and drove in a run, Matt Steffen singled twice and scored two runs, Daugherty had three base hits, scored twice and drove in two runs, Khye Heuerman doubled and singled and drove in two runs, and Alex Carie walked, scored a run and drove in a run.
Effingham is now 9-9 on the spring while remaining 4-4 in Apollo Conference play.

Teutopolis defeated Neoga 10-0 Friday as the Wooden Shoes' Kyle Pruemer tossed a one-hit shutout and did not walk a batter. Pruemer registered five strikeouts in the five-inning contest. Albin got the lone hit for Neoga, now 15-6 on the spring.
At the plate for T-Town, Jared Waldhoff tripled and singled, scored twice and drove in a run, Chase Wendling doubled and singled, scored three times and drove in two runs, Bobby Wenthe singled, Pruemer doubled and drove in two runs, Alex Goldstein doubled and singled, Derek Smith singled and walked, scored twice and drove in a run, Reed Hardiek singled and scored and drove in two runs, and Cody Will singled and scored and drove in a run.
Michael Baker took the loss for Neoga, allowing seven runs, just three earned, in 3-1/3 innings of work, walking one and fanning one batter.
Teutopolis improved to 19-3 on the spring while Pruemer is now 4-1 on the campaign.

Altamont defeated Dieterich in National Trail Conference action Friday, 11-1, in a six-inning contest.
Altamont scored its runs in bunches, plating five in the third and six more in the sixth.
Hankins got the win for the Indians, allowing the one run on just two hits, working around seven walks by striking out 10 Maroons batters.
Brandon Westjohn took the loss for Dieterich, giving up five runs on three hits and four walks in 2-2/3 innings, striking out four. Jake Bohnhoff pitched the final 3-1/3 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits with one strikeout.
At the plate for Altamont, Garrett Ziegler scored twice and drove in a run, Goeckner doubled and singled, scored and drove in two runs, Ruckman doubled, scored twice and drove in a run, Finn singled twice and scored twice, Scholes singled and drove in a run, Kuhns homered, doubled and singled and drove in four runs, Borders singled and scored, and Wolff singled and scored twice.
For Dieterich, Trenton Poe singled and scored in the fifth on a base hit by Alex Bohnhoff.
