Cubs Get By Padres

(Chicago, IL) -- Scott Hairston and Cody Ransom hit home runs for the Cubs in their 5-3 win over the Padres at Wrigley Field. Michael Bowden got the win in relief to improve to 1-and-1 and Kevin Gregg earned his fourth save of the season. The Cubs have won four of their last five games. Everth Cabrera had three hits and scored a pair of runs for the Padres. Clayton Richard took the loss to fall to 0-3 after giving up all five runs in 5 2/3 innings. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for San Diego.

Reds Clip Cards

(St. Louis, MO) -- Mat Latos tossed six shutout innings as the Reds held on to clip the Cardinals 2-1 in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium.  Latos gave up five hits and three walks as he improved to 2-and-0 while extending his scoreless streak to 17 innings. Aroldis Chapman fired a flawless ninth to notch his sixth save. Joey Votto and Xavier Paul plated a run each for Cincinnati, which improved to 2-and-3 on its 10-game road trip.  Yadier Molina went 3-for-4 and doubled in the lone run in the eighth inning for the Redbirds, who have dropped three in-a-row after a four-game winning streak. Adam Wainwright allowed two runs in seven frames to fall to 4-2 with the loss.

Marlins Shift Stanton To DL With Hamstring Strain

(Miami, FL) -- The Miami Marlins are placing outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the 15-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain. Stanton suffered the injury in the tenth inning of Miami's 4-3, 15-inning win over the Mets on Monday.  He came up lame while running to first base. Stanton is hitting .227 with three homers and nine RBI this season.

Nationals Unsure If Strasburg Will Make Next Start

(Atlanta, GA) -- Washington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg may not make his next start.  According to Comcast Sports Net, Nats manager Davey Johnson says Strasburg is dealing with right forearm tightness. Strasburg allowed two runs on six hits over six innings on Monday as a part of a no-decision against the Braves.
