(Miami, FL) -- Giancarlo Stanton was 3-for-3 with a pair of homers and four RBI as the Marlins defeated the Cubs, 6-4. Nick Green added a solo homer for Miami, which had lost six-of-seven. Ricky Nolasco allowed three runs in seven innings for the win. Steve Cishek picked up his third save. Starlin Castro knocked in two runs and Anthony Rizzo had an RBI for Chicago, which failed to sweep the four-game series in Florida. Carlos Villanueva gave up four runs in six frames but struck out eight in the loss.
Bucs Blank Cards In Rubber Match
(St. Louis, MO) -- Russell Martin homered twice and drove in three as the Pirates blanked the Cardinals 9-0 in the rubber game of a weekend series at Busch Stadium. Garrett Jones went 3-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored, while Jose Tabata also went deep for the Bucs, who have won eight of their last 10 games. Jeff Locke tossed seven innings of three-hit shutout ball as he improved his mark to 3-1. This was Clint Hurdle's 700th career win as a manager. Shelby Miller struck out seven over 5 2/3 innings, but allowed three runs to suffer the loss and fall to 3-2. The Cards managed just three hits in their second straight loss.
Price Earns First Win As Rays Top White Sox
(Chicago, IL) -- Ben Zobrist went 3-for-5 and knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Rays topped the White Sox 8-3 to earn a split in their four-game series at U.S. Cellular Field. Matt Joyce clubbed a game-tying two-run homer in the sixth and scored three times while Jose Lobaton added a solo shot for Tampa, which has won seven of its last 10 games. David Price struck out nine over seven innings of three-run ball for his first win of the season in three decisions. Paul Konerko belted a two-run homer for the White Sox, who have dropped six-of-nine. Nate Jones fell to 0-2 with the loss.
