Effingham High School's Drew Levitt connected for three hits, one a home run, as the Hearts defeated North Clay (Louisville) 8-5 in baseball action Monday.

The Hearts took a quick 2-0 first inning lead and led 4-0 after two. The Cardinals came back to pull within 4-3 in the top of the third but EHS tallied three in the bottom of the frame for a 7-3 lead. North Clay tallied two more in the sixth but that was it the rest of the way.

The Hearts improve to 6-7 on the season. Walker pitched up the pitching win with two walks and four strikeouts.

Hildebrand led North Clay with a single, home run and three RBI.

At Evergreen Hollow Park

It took five innings before St. Anthony tallied a run, then added on one more in the sixth for a 2-0 win over Dieterich.

Scott Rentfrow picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts in 4 1/2 innings. Ben Hecht got the save allowing one walk and striking out seven over 2 2/3 innings.

Jacob Schuette and Zach Gardewine had two singles each. Gardewine drove in a run. Neil Ritz had the lone extra base hit of the contest with a triple. St. Anthony is now 13-3 on the season.

Dieterich was led by Hartke with two singles.

At Kinmundy

Teutopolis edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead then went on to pound out 12 hits and score 15 runs in a 15-4 win in six innings over South Central.

Darren Probst pitched a three-hitter with three walks and six strikeouts. Justin Kenter came on in the fifth and pitched a one-hitter with one walk and four strikeouts.

Probst had a single, grand slam and finished with six RBI for the winners. Kyle Pruemer had a single home run and three RBI while Alex Goldstein had a single, double and two RBI. The Wooden Shoes are now 14-2 while South Central drops to 5-9.

Kyle Bray led South Central with a single, home run and two RBI.

At Kinmundy

At Nokomis

Altamont was a 5-0 winner over Nokomis in a non-conference contest Monday.

The Indians tallied one in the first, three in the fourth and one in the seventh. Finn had a single, two doubles and an RBI while Kuhns had three singles. Ruckman chipped in with a single and a double.

At Mulberry Grove

St. Elmo trailed Mulberry Grove throughout the contest until the top of the seventh when the Eagles came from behind for a 5-4 victory.

Mulberry Grove led 2-1 after the first, 3-1 after three, 4-1 after four. The Eagles pulled within 4-3 in the fifth and then tallied the tying and winning runs in the seventh.

Noah Flowers got the pitching win in relief to improve to 2-1. He threw a three-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts. Dalton Parks had a two-run single in the seventh that produced the win. Levi Maxey had a single and a triple and Connor Beasley a single and a double.

The Eagles improve to 5-5 on the season.

Ramsey came calling and took home a 7-2 win over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick. Ramsey had 11 hits in the game while BCCH had seven. Both teams had three errors.

Blake McKay led the Eagles with two singles. BCCH is now 1-3 on the season.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg's Christian Vonderheide pitched a five-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts as the squad improved to 14-4 on the season and Vonderheide picked up his fourth win in five starts.

Gunner Theis had two hits and three RBI while Vonderheide had three hits and an RBI and Allen and Leasher two hits each. Allen had an RBI.

Neoga was led by Riley Walk with two hits and an RBI.

Flora claimed a 2-0 win over Newton. The Wolves tallied both runs in the sixth inning behind seven hits.

Thompson had a double and Fitch two singles for the winners. Newton was led by Taylor, Schackmann and Chesnut with a hit each.

At Greenup

Cumberland trailed Robinson 10-3 going into the bottom of the fourth inning then tallied nine runs, three more in the fifth and two in the sixth to pull out a 17-10 victory.

Holden Elwood had a double and a three-rum homer for the winners along with four RBI. Zach Poe had a single, double and two RBI while Tyler Gooden had a triple and three RBI. Cody Hornbeck also drove in three runs.
