Effingham St. Anthony blanked Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 10-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Tuesday in high school baseball action.

The Bulldogs held a 4-0 first inning lead and had a three-run third and a three-run fourth. Zach Gardewine picked up the pitching win, going two innings, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out two. James Kabbes came on in the third allowing two hits, one walk and striking out two.

Neil Williams had two doubles and an RBI for the Bulldogs while Ben Hecht had a single, double and three RBI, Austin Bushur a double and an RBI and Eli Dasenbrock a single and a double.

At Beecher City

At Farina

South Central struck early, scoring three runs in the first and three runs in the second and went on for a 7-5 win over Greenville.

Dan Diss picked up the pitching win to improve to 1-1 on the season. He went all seven innings, allowing four hits, five runs, five walks and struck out eight.

Noah Powless and Fischer Sharp had a single and a double each. Powless had three RBI and Tharp two RBI. Diss had two singles and an RBI and Austin Schwarm a double and an RBI.

The Cougars will host the Wooden Bat Tournament Saturday.

At Farina

Dieterich hosted St. Elmo and sent the Eagles home with a 7-1 loss. The Movin' Maroons tallied five runs in the third.

Tanner Traub picked up the pitching win on a three-hitter with one walk and 12 strikeouts. A. Bohnhoff led the winners with two singles. Dieterich improves to 2-3.

St. Elmo drops to 3-4 on the season.

At Altamont

Altamont handed Vandalia a 10-1 loss in action Tuesday evening.

 The Indians trailed Vandalia 1-0 after two innings then tied the score in the third and took a 4-1 lead in the fourth. From that point on it was all Altamont for a 10-1 win.

Ziegler picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with six walks and seven strikeouts. Armstrong, Kuhns and Ruckman had two hits each for the winners. Armstrong and Kuhns drove in a run each.

Teutopolis pounced on Robinson early and went on for an 11-0 win in five innings via the 10-run rule.

The Shoes held a 7-0 lead after the first inning then had a four-run third. T-town had eight hits in the contest led by Gillespie with a single, double and an RBI and Probst with a double and an RBI.

Darren Probst picked up a pitching win as T-town improved to 12-1 on the season. Robinson drops to 3-8. T-town is back in action Thursday hosting Mattoon in a makeup game.

North Clay (Louisville) ended the game in the fifth inning in beating Newton 11-1. The Cardinals stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

The Cardinals had 12 hits in the contest led by Cox with two singles, a home run and two RBI, Clifton with two singles, a home run and six RBI and Hilderbrand with two singles and an RBI. North Clay improves to 7-3.

Neoga had a 10-run fourth inning after lead 6-0 and went on for a 17-0 win in five innings.

The Indians' Guy Walk picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks. Walk also aided his own cause offensively with a single, double and three RBI. Devin Olmstead had a solo home run.

The Indians improve to 9-2 on the season.
