Cardinals Make Lone Run Stand In Win

(Jupiter, FL)  --  Lance Lynn shut out the Miami Marlins on two hits over six innings to earn the win in the Cardinals' 1-0 victory in spring training.  Lynn also struck out five and John Jay had two hits and scored the game's only run.  The Cards play the Mets in Port St. Lucie today.

The Cardinals will wear a uniform patch all season to honor the late Stan Musial, according to the "St. Louis Post Dispatch." There will be three different patches for the three uniforms the club will use. Musial died in January and has a statue in front of Busch Stadium in his honor.

Cubs Fall In HoHoKam Finale

(Mesa, AZ) -- The Chicago Cubs gave up three runs in the top of the eight to fall 6-4 to the Mariners in their final home at HoHoKam Park. Alfonso Soriano lifted a two-run home run for Chicago. Hisanori Takahashi took the loss in relief. The Cubs will play spring training at a new Mesa ballpark in 2014. The Cubs play the Astros in Houston tonight and Saturday.

White Sox At Brewers

(Milwaukee, WI) -- The Chicago White Sox continue their exhibition season tonight at Miller Park against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Sox were off Thursday following their Cactus League finale Wednesday, a 5-4 win over Cleveland. The White Sox and Brewers are in action again Saturday. Chicago opens the regular season Monday against the Royals.

Mets' Santana Has Shoulder Tear Again, Surgery Likely

(Viera, FL) -- The season could be over before it even starts for Mets pitcher Johan Santana. The veteran left-hander has re-torn his left shoulder capsule. Santana will most likely need surgery, which would sideline him for all of 2013. Santana missed the entire 2011 campaign after surgery for the same ailment. The 34-year-old was 6-9 with a 4.85 ERA in 21 starts last season before being shut down in August with back and shoulder issues.
