Shoes, Cougars, Bombers Take H.S. Baseball Wins

WINDSOR -- Teutopolis opened the high school baseball season with a 5-1 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a three-run fifth and tallied a final run in the sixth. The Hatchets run came in the sixth.

T-town banged out 11 hits in the contest led by Luke Ungrund with a single, double and an RBI, Mitch Hemmen with three singles, Trenton Schwerdt with a double and an RBI and Evan Wermert with two singles.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had three hits led by A. Wittenbreg with two singles.

At Bluford

South Central broke a 1-1 tie with a nine-run third and went on to beat Webber Township (Bluford), 12-1 in five innings Monday.

The Cougars blasted out 14 hits and were aided by six Webber Township errors.

C. Dodson lit up the sky with two home runs and finished with three RBI. H. Brandt had a single, double and two RBI while . Dodson and A. Patten had two singles each.

Three pitchers combined for a one-hitter. J. Grzegorek went 1.1 inning allowing one run on one hit, one walk and four strikeouts. A. Patten threw 1.2 innings allowing one walk and striking out four. A. Dodson and E. Watwood pitched an inning each. Dodson had one strikeout and Watwood had a walk and three strikeouts.

Brownstown/St. Elmo blanked Wayne City 10-0 in five innings Monday.

Bryton Pruett went all five innings allowing five hits, two walks and striking out three.

Brady Maxey hit a home run and finished with three RBI for the winners. Jace McWhorter had a single, home run and four RBI. Caleb Atwood added a double and two RBI while Wyatt Chandler had a double and an RBI. Andy Goldsborough had two singles.
