St. Anthony Edges Woodlawn in Baseball

Effingham St. Anthony High School played host to Woodlawn and picked up a 6-5 victory in baseball action Wednesday.

Woodlawn held a 1-0 lead until the second when St. Anthony tallied three runs, then tacked on two in the third. Woodlawn pulled within 5-4 in the fourth but St. Anthony scored again in the bottom of the inning with what would prove to be the winning run as Woodlawn tallied in the top of the seventh.

The Bulldogs had six hits in the contest led by Angelo Mendella with a double and Blake Niebrugge with a triple and an RBI. Kaden Fearday added two singles and two RBI.

Logan Antrim picked up the pitching win going 3.1 innings, allowing four runs, four hits, two walks and striking out four. Jack Hoene came on to throw 3.2 innings, allowing two hits, one run, two walks and three strikeouts.

St. Anthony now sports a 12-1 record.
