Bulldogs Nab Baseball Win, Area Roundup

Effingham St. Anthony High School took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and went on for a 5-3 victory over South Central Monday.

The Bulldogs tallied two more in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Both teams had six hits. Jack Hoene had a single, double and an RBI for the Bulldogs while Davis Tingley, Hunter Stephens, Dylan Guy and Angelo Mendello had a single each.

Sout hCentral had six hits, singles by C. Dodson, L. Lotz, H. Brandt, A. Patten, S .Cowger and H. VanScyoc. Lotz and VanScyoc had an RBI each.

At Odin

Teutopolis captured a doubleheader over Odin Monday.

The Wooden Shoes opened with a 15-0 victory in five innings. T-town stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and ended the game via the 10-run rule.

T-town had 13 hits led by Mitch Hardiek with a single, double and three RBI, Dawson Smith with two singles and an RBI, Evan Addis with two singles and three RBI and Mitch Hemmen, Clint Weber, Brayden Will and Brady McMahon with a double each. McMahon had two RBI while Hemmen, Weber and Will had one RBI each.

Weber picked up the pitching win, going four innings, allowing one hit, three walks and striking out five.

In the second game, T-town was an 8-3 winner, scoring all its runs in the first three innings.

J. Hardiek had a single, two doubles and three RBI while E. Wermert had a double and an RBI.

Odin/Patoka was led by D. Richardson with a single and three RBI.

Dieterich stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Webber Township (Bluford), 7-2 Monday.

Dieterich's D. Will picked up the pitching win, going 5.2 innings, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out 16.

The Movin' Maroons had six hits led by E. Bohnhoff with three singles and two RBI.

EIC Tournament

Mulberry Grove edged Brownstown/St. Elmo in the opening game of the Egyptian-Illini Conference Tournament Monday at Vandalia High School Field.

BSE held a 7-5 second inning lead and led 8-7 going into the fourth. Mulberry Grove moved ahead 10-8 but BSE tied in the bottom of the inning. The winning run came in the sixth.

BSE had seven hits led by Rosborough with a single, double and two RBI and Philpot with two singles and an RBI.

In the second contest, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City defeated Ramsey, 10-2.

Ramsey held a 1-0 first inning lead but that didn't last long as CHBC scored four in the second.

CHBC had eight hits led by A. Weber with a double, B. Lowry with two singles, N. Miller with two singles and an RBI and Q. Schlanser with two singles and two RBI.

The tournament continues today with BSE taking on CHBC at 4:15 followed by Ramsey against Mulberry Grove at 7. The tourney comes to a close with two games Thursday.
