Altamont Downs BSE in NTC Action Wednesday

The Altamont Indians posted a 9-1 win over the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers Wednesday in National Trail Conference baseball action at Brownstown.

Altamont hit BSE with a seven-run fourth inning and added two runs in the sixth to claim the win. BSE scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh.

The Indians banged out 14 hits in pushing their season record to 7-3, 4-2 in the NTC. BSE is now 3-5 for all games, 2-4 in the conference.

Noah Teasley got the win for Altamont, pitching five innings of one-hit shutout ball with two walks against seven strikeouts. Dawson Guerrettaz pitched the final two innings, allowing the one run on a hit and two walks, fanning two.

Nate Philpot took the loss for BSE, allowing seven runs, just two earned, on eight hits and four walks in 3-2/3 innings of work. He struck out eight. Viramontes got two outs, walking two and fanning one. Atwood pitched the final 2-2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Derek Kuhlman had a 4-for-4 day at the top of the Altamont order with a walk, scoring a run with 1 RBI. Also for Altamont: J. Hammer scored a run; Alek Biggs singled twice and walked, scored a run and drove in a run; J. Robbins doubled and singled and scored a run; Noah Teasley drew a walk; B. Baucum scored a run; Dawson Guerrettaz singled three times and walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run; Hunter Cripe doubled and scored; Kaden Eirhardt doubled and singled and scored a run; and C. Reardon walked.

For BSE: Nate Philpot and Goldsborough each singled, while Rosborough walked and scored. McWhorter, Goldsborough and Higgs also walked.
