Here's a recap of junior high baseball in the area over the Labor Day weekend:

Effingham scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to edge Greenville 2-1 Monday. A walk-off bases loaded single by Hull gave Effingham the win. Wolfe also singled a drove in a run, and Fox and Lewis each singled. Nichols and Maxedon teamed up on the mound, with Maxedon getting the win in relief after Nichols pitched the first five innings.

In a "B" game, Effingham beat Greenville 12-7. Fleener got the win with three innings of work. Lewis, A. Splechter and Donaldson also pitched.

At the plate for Effingham, A. Splechter doubled and singled, Donaldson doubled twice, D. Splechter doubled and singled, Brown doubled twice and singled, Fleener singled, and Darkow singled.

The Effingham "A" team is 8-5, while the "B" team is 3-1.

On Saturday at the Mt. Zion Invitational, St. Joseph defeated Effingham 12-4. Waymoth took the loss. He was relieved by Bushue, Maxedon and Hull. At the plate, Hull doubled and singled, Waymoth drove in a run, and Raddatz singled twice. Mt. Zion also beat Effingham at the tournament, 7-0. Wolfe got Effingham's only hit. Wolfe took the loss with Raddatz pitching in relief.

On Friday, Effingham beat Dieterich 17-2. For Effingham, Maxedon doubled, Donaldson singled and drove in two runs, Raddatz, Fleener and Wolfe each singled with Wolfe driving in a run, A. Donaldson singled twice and drove in four runs, Darkow had a RBI, and Waymoth drove in two runs. Nichols, Lewis, A. Splechter and Bushue all pitched for Effingham. Niebrugge took the loss for Dieterich, Bloemer and Hahn pitching in relief. At the plate for Dieterich, Britton singled twice, and Bloemer, Dill and Fuesting each singled with Dill driving in two runs.

In Saturday action at Neoga, South Central beat Neoga 14-0, with Malachi Staszak and Brian Bolsen each singling for Neoga. Neoga beat Altamont Lutheran 6-5, with Aiden Helmuth getting three hits, Brady Reynolds, Devonn Kingery and Eli Rentfro each getting two hits, and Bryar Hennessey, Malachi Staszak and Quintin Richards each getting a hit for Neoga. South Central beat Altamont Lutheran 11-1.

In Saturday action at Teutopolis, T-town beat St. Anthony 7-1. Sehy got St. Anthony's only hit. Siemer got the win for Teutopolis, going the distance, walking just one and fanning seven. Levitt, Sehy and Martelli all pitched for St. Anthony, with Levitt taking the loss. At the plate for Teutopolis: Bloemer tripled and singled and walked, Schwerdt singled and walked twice, Goeckner singled, Siemer singled and doubled, pitcher C. Siemer singled, Niemerg singled, Lustig singled and Roepke doubled, with Siemer driving in three runs, and Schwerdt, Goeckner, Niemerg, and Roepke each driving in a run.

In a "B" game, Teutopolis beat St. Anthony 12-1. Koenig got both of St. Anthony's hits and drove in the St. Anthony run. For Teutopolis, Waldhoff doubled, Bloemer doubled, Hoene doubled and singled, Runde singled, and Thompson singled twice. Waldhoff, Bloemer, Hoene and Runde each drove in two runs and Hanson and Mette each drove in a run.

Altamont Lutheran defeated Ramsey 12-0 on a one-hitter by Elam who walked one and fanned five. For ALIS, Stuemke singled, Flack doubled, Cornett doubled, Jahraus singled and Siebert singled. Flack drove in two runs, while Robbins, Stuemke, Robinson, Cornett and Shepard each drove in a run.

CHBC blanked Neoga 7-0 Friday. Jason Manley got the win, while Helmuth took the loss. Reynolds, Hennnsey, Malachi Staszak, and Kingery each singled for Neoga. Drake Davis went 4-for-4 for CHBC, Carson Evans doubled, and Rylee Fisher and Jaxon Manley each singled.
