ST. LOUIS -- Pittsburgh scored two runs in the fifth inning and that's all it took in blanking the St. Louis Cardinals, 2-0 in Wednesday action at Busch Stadium.

Trevor Williams went six innings, allowed the Cardinals only three hits. He walked three and struck out eight.

The Cardinals injury woes continued as they went into Wednesday night's contest with three players on the disabled list and Matt Carpenter left the game in the fourth with nausea. Marcell Ozuna may return this weekend while Kolten Wong will be out for another week and Jedd Gyorko just began his stay on the DL.

The Pirates banged out 10 hits in the contest and chased Miles Mikolas after five innings.

At Chicago

The Chicago Cubs picked up a win in their suspended game against the New York Mets Wednesday but fell in the regularly scheduled contest.

The Cubs picked up the opening walk-off win, but the second game went astray as the Mets leaped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and added on another four runs in the seventh. They finished with a 10-3 victory.

The Mets had 16 hits while the Cubs could muster only six. Victor Caratini provided a two-run shot in the ninth. Willson Contreras added a single and double.

Brewers' Yelich Hits For Cycle
