Bulldogs, Indians, Eagles, Cardinals Nab Baseball Wins

Effingham St. Anthony High School handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 13-1 loss in baseball action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs took a 3-0 first inning lead then tacked on three more in the third, six in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Davis Tingley led the Bulldogs in hitting with a single, two triples and four RBI while Brody Niebrugge had a single, double and an RBI.

Niebrugge was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing one hit, two walks and striking out five. The Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season.

CHBC was led in hitting by S. Doty and N. Miller with a double each.

At Cowden

At Altamont

Altamont edged South Central 5-4 in action Tuesday.

The Indians trailed 3-2 until the third then took a 4-3 lead. South Central tied in the sixth and Altamont won in the bottom of the seventh.

Altamont had eight hits led by D. Kuhlman with a single, two doubles and an RBI. J. Robbins had a single and two RBI.

Patten led South Central with a single, double and an RBI while Dodson added two singles and two RBI.

Biggs went seven innings on the mound, allowing five hits, four runs, one walk and striking out 10. Teasley came on in the seventh and picked up the win, allowing one walk and striking out one.

At Altamont

At Neoga

Brownstown/St. Elmo came calling and claimed a 9-1 win over Neoga Tuesday.

BSE took a 1-0 first inning lead, tacked on five in the fourth and two in the fifth. Neoga's lone run came in the sixth.

Nate Philpot was the winning pitcher going six innings, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out 11.

Jace McWhorter had a home run and two RBI for the Eagles while Nick Rosborough and Andy Goldsborough had a double each. Rosborough added an RBI.

SEB improved to 1-1 in the National Trail Conference, 1-2 overall.

At Neoga

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead but Dieterich tied in the fifth. The Cardinals won the game in the bottom of the seventh.

The Cardinals had eight hits in the contest led by Jones and Clifton with two singles each. Jones added an RBI. Ballard had a double.

Dieterich had three hits, all singles by Gephart, Bohnhoff and Hartke.
