Effingham Sacred Heart fell to Stewardson-Strasburg in junior high baseball action during the weekend.
Stew-Stras claimed a 14-4 win. Rhett Rincker was the winning pitcher.
Zack Hurren had a three-run homer for the Shamrocks while Jacob Boyajian had an RBI.
At Morton
Effingham competed in the Morton Invitational Saturday, picking up a victory and suffering two losses.
In the opener, Coal City edged the Mustangs, 4-3, scoring the winning run in the fifth.
Effingham had six hits led by Raddatz and Waymoth with a single and double each.
In the second contest, Effingham was a 6-5 winner. The two teams were tied at 1-1 after three innings. Normal Parkside moved ahead 2-1 in the fourth and 5-1 in the top of the fifth. The Mustangs came back with four runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the score and then took the win in the bottom of the seventh.
Effingham had 11 hits led by Fox with a single and double and Hull and Raddatz with two singles and an RBI each.
In the final contest, Pleasant Plains claimed a 9-2 victory.
Pleasant Plains broke a 2-2 tie with a five-run fourth and tacked on two more in the fifth.
The Mustangs were led by Waymoth with a single and double and Maxedon with a double.
Effingham is now 4-3 on the season.

At Altamont
Altamont Lutheran trailed St. John's 1-0 until the fifth then tallied two runs and finished off with four in the sixth for a 6-3 victory.
Lucas Shepard had two doubles and drove in three runs for the winners. Carter Siebert had the only other hit for the Rockets with a single.
In the second game, Altamont Lutheran had nine hits in downing St. John's, 10-7. St. John's took a 4-3 opening inning lead and led 6-4 until the fourth. The Rockets then fired out to a 10-7 lead in the fourth and that's the way it ended.
Mason Robinson had three singles and drove in two runs while Nathan Stuemke had two singles and Avery Jahraus had a single and three RBI.
Aden McManaway was the winning pitcher going five innings allowing two hits, three runs, one walk and striking out eight.
