ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis didn't sweep.  the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Cardinals 2-1 at Busch Stadium Sunday to foil the attempt at a sweep.

Patrick Wisdom pulled the Cardinals within a run with a solo blast in the eighth. It looked like they might tie as Matt Carpenter nailed a shot but it fell short in centerfield and Jedd Gyorko then hit a long one but Keon Broxton caught it at the right field wall.

The Brewers halted a three-game losing streak. Jhoulys Chacin pulled out the pitching win to improve to 13-4. Milwaukee now leads St. Louis by a half game.

Mike Moustakas drove in both of Milwaukee's runs when he hit down the right-field line with two outs in the third.

Pirates 2, Cubs 1

Kyle Schwarber hit a solo shot in the second inning and the Cubs held that lead until the sixth when PIttsburgh scored to tie. It stayed that way until the 11th when the Pirates scored the winning run, 2-1.

Jose Qunitana went five innings allowing four hits, one run, two walks and striking out four.

The Cubs had eight hits but couldn't string them together for more runs. Javier Baez led the way with a single and double while Jason Heyward added a double.

White Sox Finds New Pitcher

The Chicago White Sox may have found a new starting pitcher. Not only did Sister Mary Jo Sobieck of Marian Catholic High School throw out the first pitch on Saturday, she threw a nasty curve for a strike.

Yankees' Gregorius Hospitalized

New York Yankees shortstop Didi Gregorius was taken to the hospital Sunday with what manager Aaron Boone called "a pretty bad bruise" on his left heel. It’s not yet known if Gregorius will be placed on the DL.

Twins' Santana on DL

The Minnesota Twins placed right-hander Ervin Santana on the 10-day disabled list. Santana started the year on the DL and is scheduled to see a hand specialist tomorrow about recurring finger discomfort.
