Altamont outlasted Effingham St. Anthony in junior high baseball action Tuesday, 20-16.

Altamont took a 4-2 opening inning lead and led 6-5 after three. Altamont was never headed in the game.

The winners banged out seven doubles. Rippetoe led the way hitting with four singles, a double and eight RBI, Phillips had four singles and a double, Hammer a single, two doubles and four RBI, Eirhart two singles, two doubles and four RBI, Kollman a single, double and an RBI and Sloan two singles and two RBI.

St. Anthony had 16 hits led by Roepke and Hoene with three singles each. Roepke had two RBI and Hoene one. Wines had three singles, a double and three RBI, Levitt a single and double and Wegman two singles and an RBI.

At Sacred Heart

Effingham Sacred Heart edged Neoga, 5-4 in action Tuesday in its opener.

Noah Biggs and Jacob Boyajian each had singles for the Shamrocks. Josh McDevitt picked up the win on the mound, going five innings and striking out 11.

Brady Reynolds and Aiden Helmuth had three hits each for Neoga while Bryar Hennesay had two.

 

At St. Peter

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City edged out to a 4-2 opening inning lead but the score was tied at 7-7 in the sixth. CHBC then tallied three runs in the seventh to pull out the 10-7 victory over St. Peter Lutheran Tuesday.

CHBC had seven hits led by Drake Davis with a triple, Gage Lorton with a double and Ian Hammond and Carson Evans with two singles each.

St. Peter was led by Bergmenn with three singles and Magnus with a double.

CHBC improves to 1-1 on the season.

Jasper County handed Dieterich a 16-7 loss Tuesday.

Brandon Einhorn was the winning pitcher. Issac Flowers went two-for-two with two doubles.

Dieterich was led by Pete Britton with a single and double and Niebrugge with two singles.

 

At Newton

Newton St. Thomas defeated Palestine/Hutsonville, 15-2 in six innings Tuesday.

Dylan Gier was the winning pitcher, going four innings and recording 11 strikeouts.

Kye Bergbower went four-for-five with four stolen bases and Brayden Bergbower went three-for-five with three RBI.

 

At Odin

Altamont Lutheran trounced Odin, 23-2 in action Tuesday.
