Newton Post 20 Finishes Fourth at State Tourney

ALTON -- Newton Post 20 finished in fourth place at the Illinois American Senior Legion State Baseball Tournament Monday.

Newton took on Mount Prospect Post 525 and fell 8-6 in eight innings.

Newton scored six runs on seven hits and had one error. Mount Prospect scored eight runs on 14 hits and had one error.

Noah Wagy had a single, double and two RBI while John Grunloh had a triple, Nate Meinhart a double, Evan Bohnhoff two singles and an RBI and Ben Britton a single and an RBI.

Newton then fell into the loser bracket and faced Alton Post 126 and lost 4-2 to finish fourth. Alton moved on with a 27-17 record.

Newton scored two runs on two hits and had one error. Alton scored four runs on eight hits and one error.

Grunloh and Wagy had a single each.

Newton finishes the season at 21-6.
