Effingham Asphalt tallied an 8-6 victory over Taylor Law Offices in opening round play of the Prep League Tournament at Evergreen Hollow Park Tuesday.
Taylor Law took a 1-0 first inning lead but Asphalt came back with two in the second. Taylor Law tied in the third and moved ahead 4-3 after five innings then had a two-run top of the sixth. Asphalt came back with five in the bottom of the frame to pull out the win.
Asphalt had nine hits led by Mason Robinson with a double and Andrew Magnus with two singles and an RBI.
Wyatt Phillips had a single and double for Taylor Law. Colton Loy had a double and an RBI.
In the second game, Mid-Illinois Concrete trailed Effingham Vet Clinic 4-0 going into the bottom of fourth. Mid-Illinois scored two in the inning then took the win with a six-run sixth.
Mid-Illinois had only four hits led by Connor Wines with two singles and two RBI and Lance Flowers with a double and an RBI.
Carter Bushue had a double and an RBI while Noah Dill and Logan Cornett had two singles each for the Vet Clinic. Dill added an RBI.
Effingham Asphalt will now face Mid-Illinois Concrete for the championship Thursday at 6 p.m.
