Hometown favorite Bryce Harper didn’t disappoint fans as he won last night’s All-Star Home Run Derby in dramatic fashion.

After Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber put up 18 homers in the final round, Harper came back from a slow start to equal the total and then used his extra 30 seconds for topping the 440-foot mark to break the tie and claim the title.

Harper participated in the derby for the home crowd as his father Ron was his pitcher.

Down 18-9 to Schwarber, Bryce went deep nine times in a span of 10 swings to tie it at the end of regulation. Then he drove the second pitch of bonus time over the fence in center field to win .

The starting lineups are set for tonight’s Major League Baseball All-Star game. In a repeat from last year, Max Scherzer from the host Washington Nationals will start for the National League, while Chris Sale, of the Boston Red Sox, will go for the American League.
