CLEVELAND -- Corey Kluber was tough . . . at least for a while against the New York Yankees Thursday.

But the Yankees finally got through when Kluber gave up a go-ahead double in the eighth inning to Aaron Hicks and went on for a 7-4 victory over Cleveland.

The Indians took a 2-0 first inning lead and the Yankees tied in the third as Brett Gardner homered. Cleveland moved ahead in the bottom of the inning 3-2. But the Yankees came back with two in the top of the fourth, this time on a home run by Didi Gregorius. Cleveland tied in the fifth. Then came the decisive eighth.

The Yankees finished with nine hits led by Gardner with a single, home run and three RBI, Gregorius with a solo shot and four doubles by four different players.

New York is 30 games over .500 for the first time this season.

Yankees All-Star ace Luis Severino went five innings. Manager Aaron Boone got four hitless innings from Adam Warren, David Robertson, Dellin Betances and Aroldis Chapman, who got three outs for his 25th save.

Since June 1, New York's relievers have the lowest ERA in the majors with 1.64.

Boston's Devers Placed on DL

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers has been placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to Wednesday with shoulder inflammation. Devers hopes to play when eligible, which will be the second game after the All-Star break.

Twins' Morrison on 10-Day Disabled List

The Minnesota Twins have placed designated hitter and first-baseman Logan Morrison on the 10-day disabled list with a left hip impingement. Morrison has been the subject of trade talks, although the trip to the DL could affect those plans.
