Effingham Junior, Senior Legion Teams Win

Effingham Post 120 Junior Legion claimed a doubleheader win over two Newton teams in action Wednesday.
Post 120 downed Newton Orange, 15-5 in the opening contest.
In the second game, Effingham was an 18-1 winner over Newton Blue.
Effingham Post 120 will be back in action Saturday hosting Steeleville at 3 p.m. at Paul Smith Field.
Effingham Post 120 Senior Legion traveled to Robinson and captured a 10-0 win before heading into District Tournament play this weekend.
Cody Grove, Brett Koester and Colin Koester combined for the shutout, allowing only two hits againsr Robinson.
Offensively, Bryson Wall collected three hits and two RBI, Cody Grove banged out two hits and two RBI while Bryce Lohman had a single and double, Brett Koester chipped in with a hit and an RBI and Joe Kabbes hit a fourh inning home run with one man on board.
With the win, Effingham Senior Legion earned the No. 2 seed in District Tournament action hosted by Newton Post 20. Effingham will face Robinson in the second game at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The opening game will feature Newton against Olney at 10 a.m. The tournament will take place at Boys & Girls Park in Newton.
The losers of those two games play at 3 p.m. while the winners advance to play Sunday at 1 p.m. The tourney is double elimination.
