MILWAUKEE -- The  St. Louis Cardinals finally broke through offensively to hand the Milwaukee Brewers an 8-2 loss to split the series Sunday at Miller Park.

Dexter Fowler and Harrison Bader had two hits and two runs apiece. Matt Carpenter drove in two runs, Carlos Martinez launched a shot out of the park, Kolten Wong reached base twice and pitcher Luke Weaver even contributed by squeezing a run home.

Fowler produced two doubles that began both rallies for the Cardinals..

Luke Weaver came back to pick up a victory on the mound. He struggled at the beginning when he allowed the Brewers a run in the first. But he came back in the third and fourth with 1-2-3 innings and then left the game in the sixth as the Cardinals had a four-run lead. He fnished with nine strikeouts.

Reds 8, Cubs 6

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds swept the Chicago Cubs with an 8-6 victory Sunday at Great American Ball Park.

The Cubs were trying to pick up at least one victory before heading to Los Angeles, but the seventh inning proved their downfall.

Cincinnati put together five straight hits in the seventh and had eight men at the plate before the Cubs finally got the first out. Mike Montomgery gave up three straight hits, a single to Scooter Gennett, a double to Adam Duvall and a single to Jose Peraza for an RBI. Pedro Strop came on in relief and gave up a three-run homer to Jesse Winker.

Strop continued to struggle and when the inning ended, 13 Cincinnati players batted.

The Cubs scored five runs in the fifth as Anthony Rizzo knocked out a two-run shot. But the Reds made sure those runs didn't count with the big seventh inning.

Yankees' Sanchez Injured

New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez left the game during Sunday’s loss to the Rays with an apparent right groin strain.

Sanchez will undergo an MRI today, but the team says he's likely to wind up on the 10-day disabled list.
