ST. LOUIS -- St. Louis fought back in the ninth inning to tie the score but came up short as Philadelphia picked up a 6-5 win in the 10th at Citizens Bank Park Monday.

With 19 strikeouts, the Cardinals shouldn't have been in the game but they fought back with a two-run rally in the ninth and actually held the lead in the 10th when Tommy Pham homered.

But the Phillies fought back in the bottom of the 10th putting the tying run at second. Mike Matheny decided to intentionally walk the winning run, Carlos Santana and Aaron Altherr nailed a game-winning double.

Kolten Wong's pinch-hit single tied the game in the ninth. Matt Carpenter and Yadier Moline had solo home runs that kept the Cardinals hopes alive. But Phillies starter Nick Pivetta kept St. Louis hitters off-balance and finished with 13 strikeouts.

A night after tying Gabby Hartnett for the most games caught for one team in Major League history, Molina moved ahead of Hartnett who played 19 seasons for the Cubs, with his 1,757th game behind the plate.

Cubs Postponed

The threat of rain and a limited power outage at Wrigley Field forced the Cubs and Dodgers to postpone Monday's game.

The two teams will play a split doubleheader Tuesday, with the first game at 12:05 p.m. and the regular game at 7:05 p.m.

The power outage affected the operation of the lights in right field and the threat of rain was also a deterrent.

Cubs infielder Javier Baez was out of the starting lineup for their game against the Dodgers Monday night, a day after he was hit on the left elbow by a pitch. While the elbow is still pretty swollen, Baez says he feels better and could return as soon as today.

Nationals Acquire Herrera

The Washington Nationals have acquired right-handed reliever Kelvin Herrera from the Kansas City Royals. Herrera has 14 saves and a 1.05 ERA this season for the Royals, who get three prospects in return.
