CHICAGO -- It was a 2-2 deadlock going into the seventh when Jose Ramirez nailed his 20th home run to push Cleveland ahead and the Indians handed the Chicago White Sox a 5-2 loss Thursday.

White Sox' Carlos Rodon started and went five innings allowing two runs, walking three and striking out four. Rodon is coming back from season-ending shoulder surgery last year. Volstad came on in relief, giving up the home run and took the loss.

Cleveland's Francisco Lindor led off the game with a home run, his 15th of the season. He also singled and scored in the seventh on Ramirez' home run.

Mike Clevinger took the win for Cleveland, allowing five hits and struck out 11 in seven innings of work.

Suffers Broken Hand

San Francisco Giants third baseman Evan Longoria suffered a broken hand when he was hit by a pitch during the team’s 16-inning win against Miami Thursday. It’s not known yet whether Longoria will have to undergo surgery.

Twins Send Sano Down

The Minnesota Twins have sent Miguel Sano all the way down to their Single-A club in Florida. Just last year, Sano was an All-Star for the Twins, but has struggled this season and was hitting just .203 with seven home runs.

DH Rule May Come to NL

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred says the designated hitter rule may be coming to the National League. The American League has had the rule in place since 1973, but now National League owners are starting to discuss it.
