MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers took over first place by keeping the Chicago Cubs offense non-existent in a 4-0 victiroy at Miller Park Tuesday.

Chase Anderson went seven innings, allowing only one hit, to pick up the pitching win. Willson Contreras was the only hitter for the Cubs with a single during those seven innings.

Kris Bryant is struggling as he went 0-for-4 against the Brewers. In his last 16 at-bats, he's hitless.

Along with struggling offensively, the Cubs' defense is also suspect. In the third inning, Christian Yelich stood on second and Lorenzo Cain hit a grounder to Javier Baez. Baez ran towards Yelich to catch him off base between second and third. Baez threw to  Bryant who threw to Addison Russell then Tyler Chatwood who chased Yelich back. Cain was at second and went back safely to first after the base was left unguarded. Both runners then came home on a double by Travis Shaw and the Brewers led 4-0.

Padres 4, Cardinals 2

ST. LOUIS -- San Diego threw relievers at the St. Louis Cardinals and captured a 4-2 victory Tuesday.

Padres' relievers Matt Strahm and Adam Cimber held the Cardinals without a baserunner until the sixth when Bader broke through with an infield single. St. Louis finally scored two runs in the seventh off the third relief pitcher for the Padres, Craig Stammen.

Strahm went up against nine Cardinals and retired all nine. Cimber went through the next six.

The Cardinals' Miles Mikolas picked up his second loss in three starts. He didn't issue a walk and that's fewer than 10 walks on the season. He's allowed four earned runs combined.

The Cardinals brought the tying run to the plate in each of the final two innings but didn't score against either Kirby Yates or Brad Hand.

Tiger's Cabrera Out For Season

The Detroit Tigers say Miguel Cabrera is out for the season after rupturing his left biceps tendon Tuesday during the team’s 6-4 loss to Minnesota. Cabrera came off the DL earlier this month after being out for close to a month with a hamstring strain.

Harper Hit Twice Against Yankees

Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper left Tuesday’s game against the Yankees after twice being hit by pitches. Harper was hit on his right elbow in the fifth inning, but left after getting plonked on the left foot in the eighth.
