Effingham Native Ben Hecht helped the Class A South Bend Cubs make some history on Wednesday, as he closed out the last two innings to be a part of a combined no-hitter in a 7-0 victory over the Fort Wayne Tin Caps.

Rollie Lacy, a 22-year-old right-hander, started Wednesday's game and no-hit Fort Wayne for seven innings.

Hecht came on to finish the job in relief. The 23-year-old right-hander, didn't allow a baserunner in the final two innings. Hecht sealed the no-hitter without a strike-out.

After his part in the no-hitter, Hecht now has a 3.60 ERA in his 20 innings this season.
