Jasper Co. Post 20 Downs Effingham Post 120 in DH

Jasper County American Legion Post 20 handed Effingham Post 120 a doubleheader baseball loss Tuesday.

In the opener, Jasper County was a 9-2 winner. Post 20 edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and pushed that to 5-0 after five. Effingham Post 120 tallied two in the sixth but Jasper County scored four more for the 9-2 victory.

Noah Wagy hit a solo homer for Post 20 in the first inning. Nick Cohorst had two singles.

Effingham was led by Brett Koester with a double.

In the second contest, Jasper County Post 20 edged Effingham 6-5. Jasper County took a 2-0 lead in the first and pushed that to 6-0 in the second. Effingham came back with three runs in the fourth and two in the fifth only to drop the loss.

Jasper County was led in hitting by Chase Grunloh with a single and double and Cohorst with two singles.

Effingham Post 120 was led by Cody Grove with two singles, a home run and two RBI.
