The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes were welcomed home Sunday following a second place at the State Class 2A Baseball Tournament in Peoria.

The Shoes finished with 30 wins following a semifinal win 5-4 over Herscher Friday in eight innings and a 4-1 loss to Spring Valley Hall Saturday in the championship game.

The chief speaker was Wooden Shoes varsity baseball coach Justin Fleener, who led the Wooden Shoes to their fourth appearance in the championship game during his tenure. The team made a ninth straight appearance in a super-sectional game, and won 30 or more games for the 10th time in Fleener's years as varsity coach.

Teutopolis Athletic Director Laurie Thompson served as MC for the event.
