CHICAGO -- Kyle Schwarber continues to show his power.

Schwarber hit his seventh home run of the season and helped the Cubs break a scoreless tie in the sixth. That run held up as the Cubs downed the Milwaukee Brewers 1-0 ending their eight-game winning streak Thursday.

The Cubs defense was strong as Javier Baez and Albert Almora Jr. came up with big plays.

Kyle Hendricks went seven innings allowing four hits while striking out five. Carl Edwards Jr. and Brandon Morrow came in the eighth and ninth innings to keep the Brewers off track and scoreless. Morrow picked up the save.

Cardinals 4, Mets 3

Dexter Fowler came up big with a single in the 13th inning to guide the Cardinals to a 4-3 win over the New York Mets Thursday.

The Cardinals were down but fought back. The Mets Noah Synderaard kept them off rhythm most of the game. But Fowler and Marcell Ozuna drove in big runs.

St. Louis has now won 10 out of 12 games and will head to Pittsburgh.

Carlos Martinez tied the game with a double in the 10th then went through the Mets' lineup unscatched.

Tommy Pham started the St. Louis rally with a double and ended up with four hits.

Joe Kelly Losts Appeal

Boston Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly has lost his appeal of a six-game suspension and began serving the penalty with Thursday night's game against Toronto.

Kelly was suspended for twice throwing at New York Yankees' Tyler Austin April 11.
