ST. LOUIS -- Michael Wacha is back on track after pitching the St. Louis Cardinals to a 9-1 win over the New York Mets Wednesday.

Wacha, after struggling through the season's first month, went six strong innings to pick up his fourth victory. He allowed only one walk and struck out eight.

The Cardinals came from a 1-0 deficit to move ahead 3-1 in the third. Wacha had a sacrifice bunt that turned into an error and the tying run moved into scoring postioin. Marcell Ozuna then hit a two-run single.

Paul DeJong scored on a squeeze by Wacha in the fourth. Jose Martinez drove in Wacha with a force out.

The Cardinals finished with seven hits. Jedd Gyorko's two-run homer came in the fifth.

Indians 4, Cubs 1

The Chicago Cubs ran into Trevor Bauer and fell to the Cleveland Indians, 4-1 in action at Progressive Field.

The Cubs stranded seven runners in the first six innings. Anthony Rizzo connected for a single that scored a run in the fifth. But that was it as Bauer allowed only that one run on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Meanwhile, Jon Lester gave up three home runs.  Brandon Guyer had a solo homer in the fifth while Francisco Lindero hit a shot in the sixth and Edwin Encarnacion hit one to give the Indians a 3-1 lead.

The Cubs threatened in the seventh but Rizzo's fly ball ended the frame. They came back again in the eighth as Willson Contreras doubled and moved to third on a ground out. But the next two batters struck out.

Beltre, Beckham on Disabled List

The Texas Rangers have placed third baseman Adrian Beltre on the 10-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring. It’s Beltre’s fifth time on the DL since joining the Rangers in 2011, after he was limited to just 94 games last year.

The Baltimore Orioles placed infielder Tim Beckham on the 10-day disabled list with a groin injury. Beckham is considering surgery, which would sideline him for at least six weeks.

Martin Makes Highlight Reels

Detroit Tigers center fielder Leonys Martin made the highlight reels while leading off against the Pirates Wednesday. Martin fouled a pitch off the plate and into his groin. Martin went down in pain, but recovered to homer.
