EHS, T-town, WSS, Dieterich Nab Baseball Wins

Effingham High School took a 2-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Altamont 8-2 in baseball action Friday.
The Hearts had a two-run second, a three-run third and scored a single run in the sixth. Altamont's two runs came in the fifth.
EHS had eight hits in the contest led by Bryce Lohman with a single, double and four RBI, Mason Hull with a double and an RBI and Parker Seachrist with a double.
Effingham threw four pitchers. Ryan Sandifer picked up the pitching win, going 3.2 innings, allowing no hits, three walks and striking out five. Ben Meinhart threw .2, allowing one hit, two runs, one walk and striking out one. Lohman went 1.2 allowing no hits, one walk and striking out one. Brayton Poland finished up in the final inning, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out two.
Cripe had the lone hit for Altamont with a single.

At Greenville
Teutopolis trailed Greenville 1-0 into the bottom of the second then took control and went on for a 4-1 win Friday.
The Wooden Shoes scored two in the second and two in the third. Eric Kremer hit a solo home run for the Shoes while Jackson Goeckner added a single, double and two RBI.
Lee Hardiek picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing one run on four hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.
The Shoes improve to 3-1 on the season while Greenville drops to 2-3.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg played host to Pana and blanked the Panthers 17-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule Friday.
The Hatchets stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and that was the game. WSS banged out 16 hits in the contest led by Chase Thies with a single, home run and three RBI, Owen Bridges with a home run and five RBI, Isaac Kramer with two singles, a double and an RBI, Beau Bennett with a single, double and an RBI, Christian Kessler with a single, double and an RBI, Dalton Arms with two singles and two RBI and Ben Beck with two singles and an RBI.
Bennett was the winning pitcher, going three innings, striking out three and walking one.

Dieterich took the early lead and handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 13-1 loss in five innings as the 10-run rule was invoked.
The Movin' Maroons had nine hits, four of those doubles. Paul Thoele had a single, double and three RBI while Bryce McClain had a single, double and an RBI. Matthew Hunzinger and Callaway Campton had a double and an RBI each.
Briar Schmidt was the winning pitcher going three innings, allowing no hits, one walk and striking out five.
CHBC was led by Nick Miller with a double and an RBI.

Newton fell to Charleston in a 14-4 five-inning contest Friday.
The Eagles took a 4-0 first inning lead but Charleston came back with five in the second, two in the third and seven in the fifth.
Charleston had 15 hits while Newton had four hits but committed four errors.
