Bulldogs Blank Olney, Area Baseball Roundup

Adam Levitt and Gavin Braunecker combined to throw shutout innings as Effingham St. Anthony High School blanked Olney, 3-0 in baseball action Wednesday.
The Bulldogs struck first, scoring a run in the opening inning. Austin Kline led off the inning with a single and stole second. With two outs, Joseph Kabbes singled, bringing Kline home. Blake Niebrugge also singled in the frame.
St. Anthony tallied two more in the fourth. Niebrugge singled to lead off the frame. With one out, Levitt reached on an error and NIebrugge advanced to second. Dylan Guy followed with a single, scoring Niebrugge. Bryson Wall hit a ball that was misplayed for an error and Levitt came home.
Levitt picked up the pitching win going six innings, allowing two hits, one walk and striking out nine. Braunecker came on in the seventh, allowing one walk and striking out two.

At Pana
Pana tallied a 6-5 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in action Wednesday evening.
The Panthers stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead then tacked on another run in the third.
CHBC trailed 5-1 in the second and 6-3 in the fourth. The Bobcats mounted a big rally in the seventh, scoring two runs, only to fall short.
CHBC was led by Johnathon Kollman with three singles and three RBI.

Arcola scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to pull out a 6-5 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Wednesday.
The Purple Riders edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a four-run third. The Hatchets came back with a three-run fourth. Arcola scored what proved to be the winning run in the sixth. Windsor/Stew-Stras attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs, but failed to tie the score.
The Hatchets had their hitting shoes on with six of their nine hits for extra bases. Chase Thies hit a solo home run. Ben Beck had a single, two doubles and an RBI while Christian Kessler had a single, double and an RBI. Owen Bridges added a double and two RBI and Logan Greuel had a double.

Okaw Valley took a 1-0 first inning lead. Brownstown/St. Elmo tied in the top of the fourth but Okaw Valley opened the game up with a seven-run bottom of the frame then tacked on four more in the fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule, 12-1 Wednesday.
Okaw Valley had eight hits in the contest while BSE finished with five errors.
Lewis Brown had a double for BSE while Wade Ireland had a single and an RBI. BSE drops to 0-3 on the season while Okaw Valley improved to 4-0.
