St. A Falls to Mt. Zion, North Clay/Clay City Wins Big

MOUNT ZION -- Effingham St. Anthony High School opened the season with a 9-2 loss to Mount Zion in baseball action Tuesday.
The Braves took a 2-0 first inning lead. St. Anthony came back within one in the top of the fifth but Mount Zion tallied four in the bottom of the frame, then three more in the sixth.
Colin Koester led the Bulldogs with two singles while Jason Guy had a single as the only three hits.

North Clay/Clay City banged out 13 hits and scored 19 runs in a 19-3 victory over Mulberry Grove Tuesday in baseball action.
NC/CC broke a 2-2 opening inning tie with a whopping 15-run second inning and finished the game in the fifth.
Tyson Jones had a double and triple for the winners while Quincy Aldrich had a single, double and four RBI, Colt VanDyke a single, home run and three RBI and Harmon Clifton a single, double and an RBI.
