The Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers are the 2017 Egyptian-Illini Conference baseball tournament champions.

 

VANDALIA -- Brownstown/St. Elmo High School finished with a 3-0 record in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Thursday to claim the championship.

BSE blanked Ramsey 12-0 in five innings via the 10-run rule. BSE took a 2-0 first inning lead then added on two in the second and eight in the fourth.

Lewis Brown threw a one-hitter with one walk and a whopping 13 strikeouts for the pitching win.

Brown also aided his own cause with two singles and four RBI while Caleb Atwood had two singles and two RBI and Wade Ireland a double and three RBI.

BSE stands at 9-6 overall.

In the opening game of the evening, Mulberry Grove handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 6-1 loss. Mulberry Grove tallied two in the fourth and four in the sixth. CHBC's only run came in the bottom of the seventh.

CHBC had five hits led by Lowry with two singles and an RBI.

CHBC finished 1-2, Mulberry Grove 1-2 and Ramsey 1-2.

 At Altamont

Teutopolis High School claimed a doubleheader over Altamont in action Thursday.

In the opening contest, T-town had three-run innings in the third and fourth for a 6-0 win. Clint Weber threw a one-hitter with three walks and three strikeouts and improved his pitching mark to 3-0.

Kremer had a triple and drove in two runs for the Shoes.

Vaughn had the lone hit for Altamont with a single.

In the second contest, T-town stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and blanked the Indians 10-0 in five.

Hardiek picked up the pitching win going four innings, allowing no hits, four walks and striking out six. Ungrund came on in the final inning, allowing two hits and striking out two.

Altamont had singles by Miller and Cripe.

T-town was led by Hemmen with three singles and two RBI, Deters with a single, double and two RBI, Schwerdt with a triple and three RBI and Weber with a double and an RBI.

The Shoes are now 18-1 on the season and back in action today at Effingham St. Anthony.

Dieterich broke a 2-2 tie with a four-run fourth and then pushed across eight more in the fifth to end the game over Odin 15-1 Thursday.

Thoele threw four innings of no hit ball for the pitching win. He allowed one run, one walk and struck out five. Flach came on in the final inning allowing no hits, one walk and striking out one.

Campton had a single, double and drove in four runs while Bohnhoff had two singles and an RBI and Hunzinger two singles adn two RBI. Thoele had a double and two RBI and Flach a double and an RBI.

At Kinmundy

South Central played host to Cisne and picked up a 10-5 victory Thursday.

The Cougars stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead but Cisne came back to knot the score at 3-3 in the top of the fifth. South Central then had a four-run bottom of the fifth and three in the sixth.

Geiler had a single, home run and one RBI while Brandt had a home run and three RBI. Blomberg chipped in with a single, double and an RBI and Patten two singles and an RBI. Blomberg had a single and drove in three runs.

A. Hosselton led Cisne with a single, home run and two RBI and Callahan two doubles and two RBI.
