St. A, Dieterich, South Central, North Clay Nab Baseball Wins

Effingham St. Anthony High School took the lead for good in the third inning and went on to beat Neoga 8-2 in National Trail Conference baseball action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs scored a run in the third inning when Bryson Wall drew a walk and stole second. Austin Kline reached on an error and Greg Utz drew a walk to load the bases. Joseph Kabbes hit a sacrifice fly that scored Wall.

Neoga came back to tie the score in the top of the fourth. Caleb Hill led off the frame with a triple and came home on a single by Clayton Butler.

However, the Bulldogs moved ahead with a three-run bottom of the inning. Colin Koester drew a  alk and stole second. He went to third on a wild pitch. Adam Levitt then drew a walk and stole second. Koester ended up scoring on an error. Davis Tingley nailed a single that scored Levitt. Tingley stole second and came home on a single by Kline and the lead was 4-1.

Neoga came back with a run in the sixth on a home run by Hill but the Bulldogs put the game totally away with a four-run bottom of the sixth. In that frame, Utz hit a solo homer and Blake Niebrugge hit a three-run shot.

The Bulldogs are now 4-0 in the National Trail Conference, 12-1 overall while Neoga fell to .500 at 5-5.

At Evergreen Hollow Park

 At Beecher City

Dieterich came calling and blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 12-0 in five innings Tuesday.

The Movin' Maroons edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had an eight-run second. Dieterich tacked on a single run in the fourth and ended the game with two runs in the fifth.

Dieterich banged out 13 hits in the contest and was aided by four CHBC errors. Thoele had a single, home run and three RBI, Hunzinger two singles, a double and two RBI and Campton two singles and an RBI.

CHBC had three hits, all singles by Doty, Kirchhofer and Manley.

Will picked up the pitching win allowing two walks and striking out seven.

At Beecher City

 At Windsor

South Central got some late help to pull out a 6-4 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

The Cougars held a 1-0 first inning lead but WSS tied in the second. The Cougars then moved ahead 3-1 in the third. But here came the Hatchets with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to move ahead 4-3.

That's when South Central tallied two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Chase Dodson had a single, double and two RBI while Trent Geiler added two singles, Cauy Blomberg two singles and an RBI and Ryan Matheny a double and two RBI.

Geiler picked up the pitching win, going the last two innings, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out two.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Owen Bridges with a single and double and Logan Greuel and Isaac Kramer with a double each.

At Louisville

North Clay (Louisville) tallied a run in the first and a run in the sixth for a 2-0 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo Tuesday.

Bloemer picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with one walk and 16 strikeouts. Bloemer also aided his own cause with a double, home run and two RBI. Aldrich added a double.

Nate Philpot, Isaac Maxey, Lewis Brown and Hunter Strauch had a single each for BSE which drops to 3-4 in the National Trail Conference, 5-6 overall.
