LOUISVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School claimed the championship of the North Clay Cardinal Baseball Classic Saturday.

North Clay won the opener over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

The Bulldogs then defeated Webber Township (Bluford) 10-0. Colin Koester and Dylan Guy combined to throw a shutout.  Koester went 2.2 innings, allowing one hit, no walks and struck out six. Guy went 2.1 innings, allowing one hit, no walks and two strikeouts.

Bryson Wall drove in six runs with a double and a home run. Davis Tingley had a single, double, home run and two RBI. Joseph Kabbes chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

Stratton led Webber with two singles.

St. Anthony and North Clay squared off for the championship and the Bulldogs claimed a 4-2 victory.

St. Anthony took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. The Cardinals tallied a run in the fourth and tied in the top of the fifth. But St. Anthony garnered two more runs in the bottom of the fifth for the victory.

Kabbes earned the pitching win, going six innings, allowing seven hits, one walk and striking out five.

Jacob Guy had two singles and an RBI. Adam Levitt had two RBI.

North Clay was led by Bloemer with two doubles and an RBI and Aldrich a single and double.

In a Friday game, St.Anthony edged Altamont, 3-2.

The game was tied at 2-2 after the first inning. The two teams went scoreless over the next four innings. The Bulldogs tallied the winning run in the bottom of the sixth.

Both teams had four hits. St. Anthony was led by Tingley, Kabbes, Guy and Levitt with a single each. Kabbes and Bryson Wall had an RBI each.

Altamont was led by Wyatt Vaughn with a double andn Brandin Baucum with two singles.

At Dieterich

Dieterich hosted South Central and claimed a 6-0 victory Friday.

The Movin' Maroons took a 1-0 lead in the third then had a five-run fifth.

Campton had a single, double and two RBI for the winners while Schmidt added a double and two RBI, Hunzinger a triple and McClain two singles.

South Central was led by Brandt with a single and double and McCown with a double.

Teutopolis moved its record to 11-1 on the season by blanking Woodlawn 10-0 Friday.

T-town had 15 hits in the contest led by Goeckner and Schwerdt with a triple each. Goeckner had an RBI. Jansen and Smith had a double and an RBI each. Kremer had three singles and an RBI while Funneman had two singles and three RBI and Thoele two singles and an RBI.

Funneman picked up the pitching win, going five innings, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out one. Hemmen came on in the sixth allowing no hits, no walks and striking out two.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg came calling and picked up an 11-5 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Friday.

The Hatchets had 12 hits led by Dalton Armes with three singles, Beau Bennett with a single and double, Gavin Bennett with a single, triple and four RBI and Christian Kessler with a double and three RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo had 11 hits led by Nate Philpot with three singles and an RBI, Rockty Himes with two singles and an RBI and Bryton Pruett with two singles.

Neoga stepped out to a 2-0 first inning lead then had a five-run fourth and a four-run sixth for an 11-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Friday.

Neoga had 12 hits in the contest and was aided by three CHBC errors. Andrews had two singles and a triple while Fritcher added a single, double and two RBI. Ramert had two singles and an RBI and Fearday two singles.

CHBC was led by Stoldt with a single and double.
